Throughout the entire healthcare delivery system – including acute and post-acute care – rehabilitation services are critical to achieve the goal of improving the well-being and physical abilities of each individual so that they may enjoy the highest quality of life possible. Regardless of care setting, the provision of physical and occupational therapies and speech-language pathology are an essential component in making recovery and wellness possible.

In our annual Quality Report, we share our patient outcomes and gains across varying treatment intensities and sites of care. Last year, RehabCare, the rehabilitation division of Kindred Healthcare, delivered intense, medically necessary therapies to more than 518, 500 patients in 1,789 distinct service locations providing improved function and ability.

RehabCare’s therapists treated patients and residents across the entire care continuum – from hospital to home – as a contract rehabilitation partner to unaffiliated hospitals, inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities and home health agencies nationwide.

These figures highlighting improvements in functional outcomes, lengths of stay, functional independence measures and rehospitalization rates confirm rehabilitation’s critical role in the healthcare continuum. The results also confirm RehabCare’s return on our investment in state-of-the art practices and technology as well as our commitment to hiring the most qualified therapists. Across all levels of care, RehabCare is dedicated to facilitating rapid recovery to restore function and renew life for our patients.
