EXECUTIVE TEAM
Meet the RehabCare Executive Management Team
RehabCare’s Executive Management Team is composed of the senior officers for each division and corporate department. The Executive Team meets monthly to develop and implement strategic direction for RehabCare and its subsidiaries.

John Short – President and CEO since May 2004; former Managing Partner of Phase 2 Consulting, a management and economic consulting firm for the healthcare industry; member of Board of Directors since 1991. John earned his BA in Economics from San Jose State College and his PhD in Economics from the University of Utah.

Don Adam – Senior Vice President, Chief Development Officer; joined RehabCare in 1999 and heads RehabCare's mergers & acquisitions and joint venture activities. Prior to RehabCare, he was with U.S. Bank, Citibank and Bank One. Don holds an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh.

Richard (Dick) Escue – Chief Information Officer; joined RehabCare in 2006; former CIO at Sisters of Mercy Health System in St. Louis, MO and Baptist Memorial Healthcare Corporation in Memphis, TN. Dick is a graduate of Memphis State University with an MBA in Marketing and a BA in Management Information Systems.
Brock Hardaway – Executive Vice President, Hospital Operations; joined RehabCare in November 2009 with the merger of Triumph HealthCare. Brock has over 23 years of experience in the healthcare industry, spending the past 17-plus years in the long-term acute care hospital sector. He joined Triumph HealthCare in 2005. Prior to that, he was Regional Vice President of Operations for Select Medical Corporation, where he was responsible for the day-to-day operations of over 30 hospitals across the U.S. He also was a hospital CEO and Regional Business Development Director for Kindred Healthcare. He holds a BS in Hospital Administration from Southwest Texas State University as well as an MBA from St. Edward's University Executive Program.

Pat Henry – Executive Vice President, SRS Operations; Pat is responsible for RehabCare's Skilled Nursing Rehabilitation Services (SRS) division. She joined RehabCare in 1998 and assumed the role of division President in 2001. Previously held executive-level positions with Kindred HealthCare, TheraTx and NovaCare. Pat is a licensed speech pathologist with a Master's degree from Ohio State University.

Jim Martin – Senior Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer; Jim oversees the HR, compensation and benefits, campus relations and corporate office administration activities of RehabCare. Prior to joining RehabCare in 2005, Jim had a 30-year career in employee and labor relations management for several leading global organizations, including Coors Brewing Company, Pepsi Cola Company and Trans World Airlines. He holds an MBA from Northwestern University and a Bachelor’s in Economics from Benedictine University.

Alan Sauber – Senior Vice President, Government Programs and Chief Compliance Officer; joined RehabCare in 2000, serving as Senior Vice President, Business Development. Currently oversees RehabCare's compliance and government relations programs; previously COO of a rehabilitation subsidiary of Centennial Healthcare. Alan is a licensed physical therapist and holds an MBA from Northeastern University.

Jay Shreiner – Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer since March 2006; prior to RehabCare, Jay had a 35-year career as a corporate financial executive with multi-billion dollar companies, including Kellogg Company and B.F. Goodrich. He also served as CFO, Vice President Finance and Administration for several private companies within Austin Ventures’ portfolio of companies. Jay holds an MBA from Case Western Reserve University and a BBA from Kent State University.

Mary Pat Welc –Senior Vice President, HRS Operations; joined RehabCare in 1996 as a Program Services Consultant assuming responsibility for the HRS division in 2006. She began her career in 1978 as a speech-language pathologist, holding a Master’s degree in Communication Disorders from Northern Illinois University.

Patti Williams – Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary since November 2007. Patti previously served as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Thermadyne Holdings Corporation and was an Associate at the international law firm of Sonnenschein, Nath & Rosenthal and the regional firm of Gallop, Johnson & Neuman. She received her JD from St. Louis University School of Law and has a BS in Political Science.
