Celebrating EXCELLENCE

How We Demonstrate EXCELLENCE

John Meyer, Program Director    Bryan LGH Medical Center (Lincoln, NE)

Contributed by Cathy Knight, Regional Director of Operations

John took over the management of the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit at Bryan LGH last November and inherited a team that was fragmented and concerned.  There were admission caps over half the time due to nursing and therapy shortages.  John, himself a nurse with a critical care background, took immediate action.  He redesigned the nursing schedule and implemented 12-hour shifts for nurses, quickly filled a couple of vacancies and developed a standardized productivity schedule for therapists.  The unit has run full with a waiting list most of the time since because of the high quality of care and ability to maximize patient outcomes.

Since his appointment as Program Director, the client's opinion of RehabCare has flourished.  John is included in all major decision making meetings related to post-acute services and is a sought after resource within the facility.  He has done exactly what we want our PDs to do: ensure the highest quality of care is delivered t the patients, blend in perfectly with the culture of the organization, be an exemplary leader and regularly present the resources of RehabCare to show added value and benefit to the client.

Kathy Rohaley, Clinical Coordinator    Bon Secours-Cradock Physical Therapy (Portsmouth, VA)

Contributed by Gerry Castro, Program Director, Bon Secours Maryview

Kathy is an excellent representative for RehabCare.  She exemplifies professionalism in her communication style, mannerisms and appearance.  She has a vast clinical knowledge base, which she readily shares with her fellow team members.  She treats everyone with whom she interacts equally and never asks of others what she is not willing to do herself.  That sense of fairness has earned her the respect of all her colleagues.

Kathy is a relentless and dedicated worker.  She doesn't leave work until everything has been taken care of.  Often times, she stays into the evening to ensure her responsibilities as a Clinical Coordinator and therapist are completed.  You will never hear her complain, and she always takes on additional responsibilities, if needed, to ensure her unit is being managed the best way possible.
